4. A Delta Corresponding Line of 10Kms from
Guntur Jn to Tenali Jn.
5. 50kms of Non- Electrified Single Line from
Guntur to Nalgonda.
6. 10kms of Non- Electrified Single Line from
Nadikudi Jn to Macherla.
Vijayawada
is a major Indian Railways junction station that serves the city of Vijayawada
in Andhra Pradesh. Vijayawada railway station is located within the South
Central Railway. Situated on both the Howrah-Chennai main line and Chennai-New
Delhi line, The railway station has ten platforms for passenger trains and is
the only station to have five entrance gates with booking counters in India. It
is one of the busiest railway stations in India with more than 250 express and
150 freight trains passing through it while serving 50 million passengers per
year. Vijayawada Junction has been given A-1 status in 2008 as the revenues
crossed 100 crore ($17 mn in 2013 terms) in that financial year.
Guntur
junction is one of the Divisional headquarters (Guntur
division) and a major transit point of the Indian Railways System. All four
metro cities and most state capitals can be accessed through this transit point.
Two other major transit points close to Guntur are: Tenali and Vijayawada with
a future plan of running suburban trains in the suburban region.
Tenali
is well connected to the major cities of Southern India by Railway. The nearest
cities to Tenali are Guntur & Vijayawada. Tenali has a modern and
well-developed railway station with five platforms as well as goods carrier
facilities. Tenali Railway Junction lies in the Guntur division in South
Central Railway serving many passenger and frieght trains.
Repalle
is the terminus for the Tenali - Repalle line of Guntur division. It has
regular passenger train services to Tenali, Guntur and Secunderabad.
Ongole
railway station, on the Howrah-Chennai main line is well connected all over
India with all 46 pairs of major trains & 6 passenger trains and nearly 120
goods trains.
Nalgonda
is a major railway station on the Guntur-Secunderabad line. It falls under the Guntur division of South Central Railway.
10 pairs of express trains halt here which connect the town to Howrah, Chennai,
Thiruvananthapuram, Vishakapatnam, Tirupati, Quilon, Vijayawada, Guntur,
Tenali, Repalle-Palnaadu, Bhavnagar, Kakinada and Hyderabad. And There is Local
train Facility 2 times From Kachiguda (Secundrabad)←>Nalgonda←->Miryalguda The place is well
connected to state capital by road as well as rail.
Macherla : The Guntur-Macherla (GNT-MCLA) section was opened in 1930 by the MSMR to serve the backward inner Telangana region. It too was originally metre gauge and was converted to Indian gauge in 1992-93. This section was used for the transport of limestone, quartz &cement, primarily from Piduguralla, popularly known as the Lime City.
